At one week of age the puppies have doubled their size. One male puppy is smaller than the rest of the litter. He is not a runt. Red poodle's like Lola, get their color from the introduction of red miniature poodles. Although he will not be a small as a miniature, the smallest puppy will fit the description of a Klein or Caniche. He will fit the European size of a standard poodle. The apricot puppy, who was born with a black nose, usually the nose of this color puppy is pink for the first few days, now has black eyeliner to his closed eyes. He will have the beautiful dark pigmentation of other puppies by Digby. It will be a few more days before the puppies eyes are open but even blind they move around their bed with ease. Poor Lola, they are reluctant to release her nipples when she leaves her bed so we have transferred her to a higher sided bed where she can scape the puppies off so they land in the bed not on the floor outside of it. It is so nice to see a variety of solid colors in the nest.
